If you are having problems with your webcam or fingerprint reader try the following solutions:
Hardware:
- Open the Device Manager by right–clicking My Computer, click Manage, and then select Device Manager
- Locate the webcam/fingerprint reader and double-click on the icon
- Verify that Windows says “This device is working properly”
Windows Vista & Windows 7:
- Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager
- Locate the webcam/fingerprint reader and double-click on the icon
- Verify that Windows says “This device is working properly”
Drivers:
Update your computer’s Drivers
Software:
Even if all your drivers are up-to-date, your Webcam and Fingerprint Reader might not work without an appropriate application.
Download & install the Dell Webcam Application:
- Click on Drivers & Downloads
- Enter the manufacturer serial number of your computer
- Refine Your Results: under Category, select Applications
- Look for WebCam software under the list of applications
- Download and install the software

- Click on Drivers & Downloads.
- Enter the manufacturer serial number of your computer
- Refine Your Results: under Category, select Applications
- Look for Fingerprint Reader software under the list of applications
