Webcam/Fingerprint Reader

If you are having problems with your webcam or fingerprint reader try the following solutions:

Hardware:

Windows XP:

  • Open the Device Manager by right–clicking My Computer, click Manage, and then select Device Manager
  • Locate the webcam/fingerprint reader and double-click on the icon
  • Verify that Windows says “This device is working properly”

Windows Vista & Windows 7:

  • Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager
  • Locate the webcam/fingerprint reader and double-click on the icon
  • Verify that Windows says “This device is working properly”

Drivers:

Update your computer’s Drivers

Software:

Even if all your drivers are up-to-date, your Webcam and Fingerprint Reader might not work without an appropriate application.

Download & install the Dell Webcam Application:

  • Click on Drivers & Downloads
  • Enter the manufacturer serial number of your computer
  • Refine Your Results: under Category, select Applications
  • Look for WebCam software under the list of applications
  • Download and install the software

Download & install the Dell Fingerprint Reader Application:

  • Click on Drivers & Downloads.
  • Enter the manufacturer serial number of your computer
  • Refine Your Results: under Category, select Applications
  • Look for Fingerprint Reader software under the list of applications
  • Download and install the software

Can’t, won’t, doesn’t, integrated, internal, recognized, detects
